Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari driver-guide, marking the start of your Ugandan adventure in the Pearl of Africa. After breakfast, the day begins with a scenic drive from Entebbe to Kibale National Park, a journey of approximately 5–6 hours that winds through Uganda’s lush highlands. Along the way, you’ll pass endless tea plantations, shimmering crater lakes, and the rolling hills surrounding Fort Portal, often called Uganda’s tourism city for its vibrant culture and natural beauty. The landscape gradually transforms from lowland savanna to the dense greenery of western Uganda, building anticipation for the forest adventures ahead.

In the afternoon, you’ll explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation project that protects both wildlife and local livelihoods. The swamp is a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 200 species including the striking Great Blue Turaco, papyrus gonolek, and several types of hornbills. The forest paths are also alive with primates, such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus, and red-tailed monkeys, giving you a rich glimpse into Uganda’s biodiversity. Following the swamp walk, the community experience introduces you to traditional village life — visit local homesteads, watch how to brew banana gin, see basket weaving in action, and learn about the medicinal uses of local plants. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll head to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for registration and a ranger briefing before venturing into the dense tropical forest in search of our closest relatives. Kibale is home to more than 1,500 chimpanzees, the highest concentration in the region, along with 12 other primate species. As you trek under the towering canopy, you may hear the distant whoops and drumming calls of the chimps echoing through the forest long before you see them. Once located, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour watching them feed, groom, play, and communicate — a fascinating insight into their social behavior and intelligence. Along the way, keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, red-tailed monkeys, and a variety of forest birds and butterflies. After lunch, you’ll begin your scenic transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a journey of about 3–4 hours that descends from Kibale’s rainforest into the broad savanna of the western rift valley. As you approach the park, the landscape opens up to reveal sweeping plains and distant views of the Rwenzori Mountains, the fabled “Mountains of the Moon.” Upon arrival, you’ll embark on a late afternoon game drive through the Kasese and Mweya plains, where the warm light of sunset casts a golden glow over the wildlife. After the exhilarating morning safari, you’ll begin the scenic overland journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a drive of about 5 to 6 hours through some of southwestern Uganda’s most striking landscapes. The route winds through rolling hills, tea plantations, and traditional villages, offering glimpses into rural life and the country’s rich agricultural heartland. As you climb into the highlands, the air cools and the scenery transforms into a lush, mountainous world. By afternoon, you arrive at Bwindi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse forests on Earth, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The dense canopy and mist-shrouded ridges create an atmosphere of mystery and anticipation — the perfect introduction to the gorilla trekking adventure that awaits. The day of gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park begins early, with breakfast before heading to the park offices at your assigned sector (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, or Nkuringo) for registration and a safety briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. After verifying permits and grouping trekkers (maximum eight per gorilla family), you will have a brief, during which the guides explain rules on distance, photography, and behavior around gorillas. With optional porters hired to assist at an extra cost of 20usd, you set off into the dense rainforest—an unforgettable hike through steep, muddy, and misty terrain where advance trackers communicate the gorillas’ location to your ranger via radio. The trek can last from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the gorillas’ movement, with rangers interpreting the forest’s ecology along the way. When the family is located, you approach quietly and spend a magical hour observing them—silverbacks watching protectively, mothers nursing, and juveniles playing—while maintaining a respectful distance and wearing masks to prevent the risk of disease transmission. Afterward, you trek back to the starting point, where successful trackers receive a gorilla trekking certificate as recognition of participation in this globally significant conservation program. After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park, a journey of 4–5 hours that traverses rolling hills, small villages, and lush farmlands of southwestern Uganda. Despite being the country’s smallest savannah park, Lake Mburo is teeming with wildlife, offering a compact yet thrilling introduction to Uganda’s plains ecosystems. Expect to encounter zebra herds, impalas, eland, topis, buffaloes, and the occasional giraffe roaming the open grasslands.

As the afternoon light softens, prepare for an evening walking safari, one of the rarest and most immersive wildlife experiences in East Africa.
