5 Days Rwenzori Mountains and Queen Elizabeth Uganda Safari

Your adventure begins with an early departure from Entebbe, heading west through Uganda’s beautiful countryside. The drive itself is scenic, offering glimpses of rural life, banana plantations, and verdant hills. By afternoon, the majestic Rwenzori range comes into view. Upon arrival at your lodge at the mountain's foothills, you’ll check in, enjoy a hearty lunch, and take the rest of the day to relax. The cool mountain air and quiet forest surroundings make for a peaceful welcome to the region.

Overnight: Equator Snow Lodge or Ruboni Community Camp

Over the next two days, you'll dive deep into the mystical world of the Rwenzoris—also known as the “Mountains of the Moon.” Led by expert local guides, your hikes will take you through varied ecological zones, from thick Afro-montane forests and moss-draped trees to alpine meadows scattered with giant lobelias.

The treks are designed to suit your pace and interests—whether you're seeking a moderate forest hike or a more challenging climb. Along the way, you'll encounter waterfalls, crystal-clear streams, colorful birds, and, with luck, primates such as black-and-white colobus monkeys. Each evening, return to your lodge to warm up, share stories around a campfire, and enjoy a well-earned meal.

After breakfast, leave the mountains behind as you descend into the savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park—Uganda’s most biodiverse protected area. The drive is smooth and scenic, with changing landscapes hinting at the wildlife to come.

On arrival, check into your lodge, enjoy lunch, and then head out for a sunset game drive. As the golden light bathes the plains, keep your eyes peeled for elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, and, if you're lucky, a pride of lions settling in for the night.

Your final day begins with a sunrise game drive through the Kasenyi Plains or the Ishasha Sector, where you might spot the famous tree-climbing lions lounging in fig trees. The early hours are ideal for wildlife sightings, with animals more active before the day heats up.

After lunch, take to the waters of the Kazinga Channel—a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. This boat safari is a highlight of the trip, offering close-up views of yawning hippos, basking crocodiles, and a rich array of birdlife, from African fish eagles to kingfishers.

As the sun sets over the water, begin your return journey to Entebbe. Depending on your flight time, you can either spend the night in Entebbe or head straight to the airport for your onward flight.
