detailed Itinerary
Your adventure in Kenya begins upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. After airport pickup by your local guide or driver, check in to your chosen accommodation—whether it's a boutique luxury stay at Giraffe Manor, a heritage experience at the Fairmont Norfolk, or a comfortable hotel like Sarova Panafric. Depending on your arrival time, start your exploration with a visit to the Giraffe Centre, where you can hand-feed endangered Rothschild giraffes. Follow this with a trip to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where orphaned baby elephants are cared for before being reintroduced to the wild.
If time allows, stop by the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the "Out of Africa" author, for a touch of colonial history. Enjoy lunch at the artistic and cozy Talisman Restaurant, and conclude the evening with a traditional Kenyan barbecue at the famous Carnivore Restaurant. Overnight in Nairobi, getting ready for the wild heart of Kenya.
After an early breakfast, depart Nairobi for the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve—either by road (approximately 5–6 hours) or a short domestic flight (about 1 hour). Upon arrival, you’ll check in to a luxury tented camp like Ashnil Mara, Mara Serena Safari Lodge, or a more budget-friendly option such as Julia’s River Camp.
After settling in, embark on your first afternoon game drive. The Mara is teeming with wildlife, and you may encounter elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and big cats like lions and leopards. If visiting between July and October, you might witness the spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration, one of the world’s most dramatic wildlife events. Return to camp for a hearty dinner and share stories around the campfire before retiring under the star-lit sky.
Rise before dawn for an early morning game drive, the prime time to spot predators in action. Optional: take a once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon safari, floating above the savannah as the sun rises, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush. Spend the rest of the morning tracking the "Big Five" (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino) with your guide.
After lunch back at the lodge or picnic in the wild, enjoy a cultural visit to a Maasai village. Interact with the locals, learn about their traditional ways of life, and see their unique homes known as manyattas. In the late afternoon, embark on another game drive for golden hour sightings. Dinner is served back at your camp, with the sounds of nature as your nighttime lullaby.
Today, you leave the Mara and journey towards Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake nestled in the Great Rift Valley. The drive takes approximately 5 hours, with a brief stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Upon arrival at your lodge (such as Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort), enjoy a refreshing lunch.
In the afternoon, take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, gliding past hippos wallowing in the shallows and spotting fish eagles and other exotic birds. Visit Crescent Island, a peaceful sanctuary where you can walk among zebras, giraffes, and antelope—no predators here, just serene wildlife. Wind down with a lakeside dinner and relax in your lodge as the sun sets over the water.
After breakfast, set off for Amboseli National Park, located in southern Kenya near the Tanzanian border. The journey takes about 6–7 hours, but the reward is immense—iconic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro towering behind vast elephant herds. Check in to your accommodation, such as Ol Tukai Lodge or Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge, both offering prime views of the snow-capped peak.
In the late afternoon, embark on a game drive through Amboseli’s dusty plains and marshlands, where elephants rule the land. You'll also see buffaloes, lions, cheetahs, and a variety of birdlife. Capture unforgettable photos of elephants silhouetted against Africa’s highest mountain. End your day with dinner under the stars, reflecting on the majestic scenery and powerful wildlife encounters.
Start the day with a morning nature walk or quick game drive before transferring to the airstrip. You’ll fly from Amboseli to Nairobi, then connect to Ukunda Airport near the coastal paradise of Diani Beach. Upon arrival, transfer to your oceanfront resort—options include the luxurious Swahili Beach Resort, the boutique The Sands at Nomad, or budget-friendly Diani Backpackers.
Spend your afternoon unwinding on white sandy beaches, swimming in the warm Indian Ocean, or enjoying a beachside cocktail. Diani is perfect for relaxation after your safari adventures. Stroll the palm-lined coast as the sun sets, and enjoy fresh seafood for dinner at a beach restaurant. Overnight at your resort.
Your final day in Kenya is a chance to unwind and reflect. Sleep in, take a leisurely breakfast, and spend the morning enjoying your resort. If you're feeling adventurous, opt for a half-day excursion to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park for snorkeling or dolphin watching. Alternatively, enjoy a beach massage, explore local craft markets, or try paddleboarding along the calm coastline.
After lunch, check out of your hotel and transfer to Ukunda Airstrip for your domestic flight to Nairobi, where you’ll connect with your international departure flight. Carry with you unforgettable memories—from the savannahs of Masai Mara to the turquoise waters of Diani.
